Restoring Smart Phone Contacts

Contacts are returned in two different file formats, .vcf and .lidf. Below are the various ways to import these files into your computer or your smart phone.

The easiest way to import your contacts is using a cloud service such as iCloud, gmail, or Yahoo. If you don’t have an account for any web based email services scroll down for instruction on importing into your computer’s contact management.

Import to iCloud

1) Go to www.icloud.com and log in with your Apple ID and password that your iPhone is set up with.

2 ) In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom left corner of the screen.


3) Select the vCard (.vcf) file from jobnumber/iPhone/Contacts on your target drive with the yellow sticker on it to import.


This will import all of your contacts to iCloud and then automatically download to your phone.

Import to Gmail

1) Go to www.google.com/contacts and sign in with your gmail account that you are using on your iPhone, Android phone or other supported device.

2) Under the More dropdown select Import.

3) Click the Browse button and select the vCard (.vcf) file from jobnumber/iPhone/Contacts if this is an iPhone recovery or jobnumber/Contacts for any other type of phone on your target drive with the yellow sticker on it to import.


This will import all of your contacts to Google and then automatically download to your phone.

Import to Yahoo

1) Go to address.yahoo.com and sign in with your Yahoo account that you are using on your iPhone, Android phone or other supported device.

2) Click on Import Contacts and then click on From file.

3) Click the Browse button and select the vCard (.vcf) file from jobnumber/iPhone/Contacts if this is an iPhone recovery or jobnumber/Contacts for any other type of phone on your target drive with the yellow sticker on it to import.


This will import all of your contacts to Yahoo and then automatically download to your phone.

Into Address Book on a Mac

Go to the vCard file from jobnumber/iPhone/Contacts and double click on the .vcf file. You will get a dialog box that pops up asking if you want to add the contacts to your address book. Click OK.
