Restoring from the Target drive

If you do not have enough space on your computer to copy the iOS Backup folder from the recovery to your computer and do not have another computer with enough space on it then the only way to restore to your iPhone directly from the recovery drive is with a program called iMazing.

NOTE: DriveSavers is not affiliated with iMazing, we only offer this solution to assist with your situation.  DriveSavers has no control over the cost of their products or the functionality of what they can do.  We are only recommending the use of this product to select an alternate location to restore the backup from and do not endorse any other features this program has to offer nor will DriveSavers provide support for any other features of this program.  If you need support for other features please contact https://imazing.com/support.

Step 1

Download and purchase a license iMazing.  You only need a single-device license for this process.  If you plan to restore to multiple devices or had multiple devices recovered then you will need a license for each device.

Step 2

Connect your new iPhone to your computer with iMazing.  This link will provide more help with that if you need it.  https://imazing.com/guides/connect-your-device-to-imazing#instructions

Step 3

Select the backup folder.  On the left of the screen click on "Backups".  Now in the top right click on the "+" and choose "Add Backup Folder".   In the browser window navigate to the Target drive that is named DS and your job number.  Open the folder with your job number and click on the "iOS Backup" folder then click "Open" in the bottom right corner.

Step 4

Restore your backup.  Click on the icon for your backup to open it.  On the right under Quick Actions click on "Restore to Devices".  The next window will ask you to pick the device.   You should only see the device that you have connected to the computer.  After that, you have a screen asking you what to do.

Important: if you have new data on this phone that you want to save first watch this video to Sync your iPhone/iPad data to iCloud before proceeding as restoring the data will wipe out all data currently on the phone.

Now you can proceed with the restore.  We recommend checking the box to erase the phone and you can give it the new name you want for your phone. Continue to follow the prompts and your backup should start to restore.

In the next screen it should ask you if you want to apply your license to this device.  Say yes and then you will restore your phone.
